THE PROBLEM: Data orchestration can be complicated. Data comes into your organization and needs to track through different workflows. It needs to be secure. It needs to be validated. And it needs to be easy for teams to find and use.

THE BACKGROUND: This company is well-known in the storage manufacturing business. We found that their customers needed help managing, verifying, and tracking data as it moved from the edge to on-prem and then on to the cloud.

As part of the user research process, we also discovered that their customers need a way to automate data workflows. Data coming into these companies typically needed to be identified, sorted, tracked, and possibly reformatted as it entered different workflows.

MY ROLE: I worked with engineers, product managers, directors, and potential customers to build this product from the ground up. Specific tasks include persona development, use-case identification, sketching, wireframes, and UI design and iteration. Additionally, I helped the technical marketing team tell its story.

What I liked about this project was that it required me to take a deep dive into the technology around mass storage and some of the unique tools this company had created. It also required that I come up with a compelling narrative of what their customers were after, what their challenges were, and how this product benefits them – to use both internally and externally.
